Common Household Products That Pollute Your Home’s Air

VOC's
|

Let’s first talk about what this means. From many different home products, a vapor is released called Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). VOCs are also released from furniture and certain building products such as wood floors & paints (this is not an exhaustive list; click here for more sources of VOCs).

According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), VOCs can cause some serious problems:

  • Eye, nose, and throat irritation
  • Headaches, loss of coordination, and nausea
  • Damage to the liver, kidney, and central nervous system
  • Some organics can cause cancer in animals, and some are suspected or known to cause cancer in humans
  • Many other additional problems
