Since high school, Gary dreamed of owning his own business. After working for a heating and air company, he moved on and started Gary's Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc. in 1978 in his garage. Gary will say that he owes much of his success to his father and father-in-law, who both encouraged, motivated, mentored, and supported him as he pursue his dream.
As a new businessman, Gary made a vow that there would be several non-negotiable standards for him as a businessman:
- Customer service and satisfaction
- Ethical behavior no matter the cost
- Safety for customers and employees
While the first few months back in 1978 required hours in the car and Gary holding down the business without any employees, he has grown Gary's Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc. to a successful heating and cooling company that is trusted in Amarillo and surrounding areas.
Gary has become a brilliant teacher, leader, and mentor. He loves coming to work every day and interacting with the employees and our customers. He was born and raised in Amarillo and loves this community. He prides himself and his company on good morals, ethics, and honesty.
Paula came on board in 2012 after retiring from Education as teacher, counselor and Director of Counselors for AISD.
While running a business is not easy, it is very rewarding to Gary and Paula to see employees grow, ensure clients are happy, and give back to the community. Paula and Gary love golf, shooting guns, and spending time with their kids and grandkids.

'Went the second mile' to assure that we were pleased with their work."Our HVAC system was about as old as we are when it expired! The Yellow Pages are filled with HVAC providers, and it seemed like spinning a roulette wheel as to whom to call. Because of a previous civic relationship with the principals at Gary's, that's the number we dialed. Five days later (even that delay being at our request), Gary's installers worked their magic. Among others who came by to monitor the installation, we especially want to commend Jeremy, Spencer and Jesse who installed the system.
